Hello! I'm Ian Natzmer

I’m an AI Product & Engineering leader with 15+ years of experience building intelligent systems that support learning, insight, and human potential. My work spans adaptive learning platforms, large-scale SaaS systems, AI-powered teacher tools, and immersive experiences that make complex ideas accessible. I specialize in connecting user research, pedagogy, and emerging technologies to create clear, intuitive products that genuinely help people—whether they’re students, educators, or enterprise teams.

My career began in the classroom, teaching English and early literacy in Taiwan, where I saw firsthand how meaningful learning can transform a life. That experience grounds everything I build today. I’ve since worked across nonprofits, EdTech, AI/ML, and data-driven product ecosystems—always guided by curiosity, creativity, and the belief that technology should make learning more human, not less.

In my 2025 AI Journal article, I explored how adaptive curriculum can ‘learn back’ from every student. By modeling real-time signals—not averages—AI personalizes instruction, supports neurodiverse learners, and frees teachers to focus on what matters most: human connection.

At the 2023 Serious Games Conference in Toronto, I shared how AI-driven open-world games like Elaria make learning engaging and adaptive. By using AI for dynamic storylines and personalized pathways, these games turn education into an immersive adventure—bridging motivation and meaningful skill development.

At FETC 2018 in Orlando, I shared how role-playing in immersive virtual worlds can build connection, retrieval skills, critical thinking, and empathy. Using the Odeum Platform, I showed how AI-powered adventures transform history, language learning, and literature into active exploration.

At SITE 2011, I introduced CILT, an adaptive intelligent tutor for Chinese. Using linguistic pedagogy and a knowledge-model architecture, CILT adjusts lessons on the fly—helping learners build vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing skills through tailored, data-driven practice.
